All About The Brooklyn Cruise Terminal

The Brooklyn Cruise Terminal opened in 2006. As one of three terminals for ocean-going cruise ships in the New York area, it provides over 240,000 passengers a year a place to dock. The terminal was convergent from a freight terminal originally constructed in 1954. It is a single pier (Pier 12) and handles one cruise ship at a time. The modern terminal has won many awards including "Cruise Terminal of the Year" by Princess Cruise Likes and "Best New Homeport" by PortHole Magazine. With over 200,000 square feet of terminal space, including gangways, bus stalls and over 500 parking spots. The specific embarkation and debarkation areas mean then passengers never have to wait to get on the ship.

Located in the Red Hook area of Brooklyn, The Brooklyn Cruise Terminal is close to a great new area of Brooklyn with many great restaurants, retail stores and artists. The Carnival Corporation which owns Princess Cruises and Cunard Cruises call it their home port. Over 40 ships a year use the port, including the Queen Mary 2, Caribbean Princess, Regal Princess and LeBoreal. Cruise destinations include England, the Caribbean, Canada, New England and a world cruise. The terminal is known for it's efficient terminal and turnaround port operations, and for providing a great destination experience. The 182, 000-square-foot terminal provides 330 jobs and provides a wonderful docking experience and the passengers will get a fantastic look at the Statue of Liberty.

Embarking & Disembarking at the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal

• When passengers first enter the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal (72 Bowne St, Brooklyn, NY, United States), they will come in through the south doors and be directed towards security, the passenger screening area and pass through the check in area.
• The cruise ships are docked to the west on Pier 12. There passengers both embarking and disembarking will have a great view of the Statue of Liberty.
• The single Quay can provide docking to ships with a maximum length of 1135.2', width of 132' and draught of 33'
• Parking lots are located on the south side of the terminal entrance. They overlook the Statue of Liberty as well. Handicap parking is also available at the same standard rate.
• For passengers disembarking who need a taxi, simply ask to be picked up at Pier 12.
• In 2010, The Brooklyn Cruise Terminal had 240, 194 estimated passengers and 47 ships.
• The facility provides full access to washrooms. The nearest medical facilities to the terminal, should they be needed, are the Long Island College Hospital and the Lutheran Medical Center.
